Training - 10 day course
Training
consists of both practical and theory work as follows:

Safety awareness
·
Maintenance and pre-start checks
·
Identify all components, controls
and gauges
·
Configure excavator for travel
·
Travel machine over varying
types of terrain
·
Manoeuvre excavator in confined
areas
·
Set machine to excavate
·
Excavate below ground level
on a variety of excavations
·
Load spoil into various sizes
of vehicles/hoppers
·
Grade, spread and level different
types of terrain
·
Place the machine in an out-of-service
condition
·
Explain loading and unloading
procedures on/off transporter
·
Achievement Test on final day
Experienced
Worker Assessment - 1 day course
Qualifying
criteria as follows:
·
Aged 21 years or over, with
three years experience in the construction industry with two
of those years operating the category of plant applied for
·
Be able to provide supported
evidence (in writing) of experience in the form of a letter
from current/previous employer or evidence of work records.
During
the practical test the following operations must be demonstrated:
·
Carry out full pre-start and
running checks
·
Prepare the excavator for travel
·
Travelling up and down inclines,
through restricted areas, travel over rough, uneven terrain
·
Excavate a straight trench
·
Excavate a square excavation
with vertical sides
·
Re-instate and compact the
earthworks
·
Load material into a vehicle
·
Travel the excavator to a park
position, shut down and secure
